No, not smallville, Montville

RIMG0028_2

Firstly, let me apologise for my long absence. I have not blogged here for a while because of my family being here in Brissy, my busyness with organising a couple of events and cos of my commitment to my own blog. Yes, in this entry, I am going to share about a small town I brought my family to when they visited Brisbane. We drove about 2 hours up north to the Sunshine coast, to this small lovely town called Montville. I love it, it is beautiful, if you a person who like a cottage-like feeling rather than the big city, I guarantee that you will love this place.

Here is my 5 recommended must do’s when you are there:

(and because of my lack of vocabulary skills, I will let the pictures do more of the talking)

1. Eat pies with mashed green peas & SCONES!

RIMG0004

This particular cafe which serves the mashed green peas is really a worth a try! Although I am not a big fan of pies, I quite like it. But my favourite is still the scones they serve! It is the best that I have ever tasted thus far, not too dry that after a while you just dont wanna eat it, neither it is too soft that you feel like you are eating a sponge cake. The texture is just right, I assure it is very nice, together with the cream and the jam!!!

2. Walk in their candy stores and try their fudges

RIMG0017

Chocolates and candies are MY thing! Especially when everything in the candy shops looks so colourful, just like Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Honestly, I didn’t get to try their fudge for the simple reason of my full stomach of the previous pies and scones. But it looked so delicious, I would have to make it a must on my trip there! However, I got some nougats instead, in my thinking, I felt a little healthier. Who am I kidding! HAHA!

3. Visit their little vintage shops

RIMG0024_2

OMG! Beautiful! I really really love vintage shops, they sell the coolest things ever! For simple display items to accessories, bags, kitchenware, children books and toys and many more… I could be in the shop all day long. The problem with it is that everything looks so pretty but I couldn’t think of much use for them except how pretty it will look in my room. A practical shopper like me, I always make sure it is worth my buy, but yet again, there are moments where I just buy things on impulse because it is dirt cheap or simply irresistible!

4. Climb their mini spider web

RIMG0040_2

As an emotional kid, I used to climb on the monkey bars in playgrounds to just watch the clouds float by and try to capture the sunlight in my hands. So if there is anything similar, I love to do that. When I was there, I climbed the mini spider web (nothing compared to the one in west coast park), and watched as the sunset and my two little nieces enjoying the swings. And just looking at my family having so much fun together, it was a kodak moment!

5. Take pictures!

RIMG0025_2

Some of my friends find it absolutely embarrassing going out to eat with me, because I am the kind who likes to capture everything in my camera. And since I have a fetish for places like Montville because of it’s beautiful architecture and vintage-style, taking pictures is a must!!!

Ibises stole my pie

July 14, 2009 · 2 Comments

Some of you readers will only read this post because of the title. You must be wondering what I am talking about. Brisbane is known as the green city. People I know from Hong Kong or Singapore, have repeatedly said that one of the things they like about Brisbane is the fact that it has greenery. Now personally for me, Brisbane is not a green city because the city I come from in Zambia, has a lot more greenery. But one cannot compare the two because my city has a lot more space to have trees and large backyards and parks.

Now you may be wondering where I’m going with this and how the title comes in. Well I think the universal irritation in this city is the wildlife. Be it the bush turkeys that make messes of every flower garden; the magpies that attack passerbys; crows that have an amazing ability to pick the exact window of your bedroom and crow at unsightly hours of the morning; and who would forget the sweet little possums that are really cute until they find a way of crawling into your ceiling and coming down into the house through the hole in the closet ceiling (believe me, that is not cute). And for those who have not lived in Brisbane, it would be good to know that it is illegal to harm these wildlife. Don’t get me wrong, I love animals and birds, but at 3am when a crow is crowing right outside my window, I’m not thinking ‘What a beautiful sound’, especially if I have work at 6.30am that morning.

And now the crust of my post: The Ibises. I took the liberty of getting a photo of it for those who don’t know what one looks like. These are the birds found at almost every single outside eating area in Brisbane. If you are not alert, they land on your table and grab your food. You know how on Discover Channel, the animal lovers always defend the animals by saying they are as scared of you as you are of them? Well it doesn’t apply to these birds. They are beyond fear of humans. They grab food wherever they can. For those with aspirations of coming to the University of Queensland, St Lucia campus, you must be warned that you will be visited by them on a regular basis.

You may be wondering what spawned this tirade on the wildlife in Brisbane. No it was not a bird attack (and I am not kidding or exaggerating when I say birds attack, ask cyclists or joggers who live here), nor was it the natural alarm clock nor my chips being grabbed. It was the University of Queensland Law Revue (no I have not spelled revue wrong). This is an annual comedic play by law students at the University of Queensland who because of the lack anything more constructive to do (or interesting), make a spoof out of different scenarios in University and life in general. Last year they made a video entitled ‘Ibises stole my pie’

The reason why I thought it would be great addition to a lifestyle journal is because you have to know all that goes on in Brisbane.

Hope you had a laugh. Just goes to show, we law students do have a sense of humour.

The next Law Revue is coming up. I’ll keep you posted on when and where.

Bring out the Sun

July 7, 2009 · 1 Comment

My favourite season for clothes, I think, is most definitely winter. I love either going for the layered look, the one ‘kick ass’ winter coat or the nice jersey tutleneck. I love the different colours- this season is into dark colours so looking at black, grey etc. I love boots most of all. Ankle, knee length; heeled, flat; black, brown, white, red;…..I don’t care, if they are boots then they have my vote of approval.

With different seasons come different clothes and sadly enough you notice you can no longer where that pair of shorts you love or that sleeveless top that is the perfect colour. And even though winter is my favourite season for clothes I do desperately miss wearing maxi dresses. Now here is where I should probably mention that I grew up as a tomboy (seriously- I used to be mistaken for a boy more often then not, and I didn’t mind the mistake). I wore shorts and tees all day everyday. I only wore dresses once a week and that was to go to church because my mother didn’t want to lose all hope in ever seeing me turn into a proper female. My school uniform does not count because for that I didn’t have any say. I spent my days running around in the back yard getting into one mess after another so putting me in a dress ran the risk of it never being wearable again. You may be wondering why I am mentioning this. Well its simple………….I’ve been on both sides of the spectrum and loved it. I’ve been the chick who can’t be bothered to try and look nice, as long as I’m comfortable I’m good to go. Practicality was the word of the day. What?!!! Me wear heels? You gotta be kidding me? God made my feet flat for a reason, why would I go and contort them just so my legs look longer?- Some of you reading this can relate. Yet I’ve become the one who cannot leave the house without matching everything to almost perfect (I say almost because true perfection is too expensive….lol), I still wear the shorts and tees but in some way I will still try and make a statement with it.

So turning from the tomboy to…………..(I don’t quite know) I still get surprised when I look into the wardrobe and find 5 maxi dresses (not to mention my other dresses). I must put a disclaimer that these dresses have been bought over a long period of time. But alas with the arrival of winter I can no longer don them. Technically I can but when a dress is designed such that the front is what makes it unique or some design at the back or the straps or something, I would hate to ruin the effect by wearing a jacket or worse, a shirt underneath.

Untitled Untitled2
Untitled3Untitled4

These are 2 of the five dresses (actually my favourite but I don’t want to hurt the other dress’ feelings). Sadly I am resigned to staring at them in my closet waiting until spring.

The inspiration that started it all…

June 29, 2009 · 1 Comment

As many have read in our about page, the idea of Closet Overload began with me wanting to sell my pre-loved clothes. However this thought originally came from a blogshop that I stumbled upon called Jeveuxvetements, which means, “I want clothes” in French. This online store is mended by three Singaporean girls who have a great love for shopping and want to share their love for it to everyone else.

Although they only sell pre-loved items (more commonly known as second-hands, but that sounds like old hand-me downs), rest assured, their clothes are still of good quality and fashionable standards. So you don’t have to worry about them selling any old clothes. When you browse through their website, you will note their versatile fashion sense and variety of styles. Unlike other blogshops, where you tend to see a trend in the clothes they sell. Sadly, each item has only one piece available, so you gotta grab them fast! They are best known for their reasonable price, efficiency in responding to customers and postage of items ordered.

IMG_02280

Singapore’s recent increased popularity for online shopping has birth out many online stores. So out of the hundred and one million existing blogshops, what makes Jeveuxetements special?

“We are different in our photoshoots! Creativity, life and passion is what we bring”

-Eve (Jeveuxvetements’ photographer)

This is creative marketing strategy as they snap pictures of themselves wearing the clothes that they are trying to sell in the very same environment that one would wear their clothes in. In a way, they are also your “style guides”! Just like how you see models or famous people dressed in a certain manner in magazines, you would have a greater desire to buy those clothes too! Somewhat a similar idea.

This was the blog that inspired the birth of Closet Overload, do drop by and give them your support.

Surprise!!! Or maybe not

June 27, 2009 · Leave a Comment

In my repertoire of friend’s birthday celebrations, I think I can count on one hand which have actually ended up as a surprise. I’ve tried the ‘pretend as if you forgot and a couple of days later surprise them’; the ’surprise them on an earlier date’; ’surprise them at midnight’……….and the list can go on. My own ’surprise’ birthdays include one at midnight in which my housemate, to get me out of my room, shouted ‘the house is on fire!’. As you can guess, it never quite worked. Another was a huge plan for my 21st which was spoilt when the night before, one of my friends sitting behind me on a bus, asked ‘what time is Naomie’s surprise birthday?’. This one had taken a lot of effort on Rachel’s part (she had planned it) so I acted really surprised on the day. I think the freshest on my mind is one in which 4 of my friends and I decided to go to the birthday person’s house at midnight with a cake. We banged into his room shouting ‘happy birthday’ at the top of our lungs. It was a sight to behold! (lol………it makes me laugh just thinking about it). Alas we had forgotten the vital component of video evidence that could be used for bribery purposes in the future, so in a effort to give you a picture in your mind I think the only way I can describe it is some kind of defense/attack martial arts pose with a squeak. You can see why it is still fresh on my mind. Last Sunday was another success story with two surprises! One for the birthday girl and another for the organiser of the surprise because her birthday was the next day. Both their faces were classic!

Now you may be wondering why, even though it is a fascinating subject in itself, I am dedicating a post to this. Simple………..last night was another attempt at a surprise dinner. It is almost a month before her birthday but since she will be in Malaysia, we decided to give her a dinner at Gambaros (she has been wanting to go there for like ever). It turned out not to be a surprise because of a slip of the tongue and recognition of someone’s car. And with this introduction I will finally come to the crust fo this post which is….(drum roll….): Gambaros

The Place

With all the hype that surrounds the restaurant and the reputation it had, I personally went there with a high expectation. They have tables on the balcony and when you enter, there is a nice cozy cocktail bar on your right and the left is where the rest of the tables are. I do love the fact that it has a cocktail bar because if you wanted to meet up with friends and have a meal, you can always start off with a few drinks while waiting for the ones who are notoriously ‘fashionably’ late (which, with my group of friends, is always me). The restaurant itself has a nice appeal. It has dark woody colours which I personally love and is designed such that certain parts of it can be sectioned off. The wine collection (which I must say is extensive and of good quality) is on display in the centre of the room in a lengthy glass celler (which put another tick on my checklist for classy). It hasn’t got that snobbish, pretentious atmosphere that most fine dining places tend to have and because of that you don’t have to dress ‘up’ to go there (I am not condoning wearing shorts, t-shirt and thongs though- dress presentably).

The Food

Having got its notoriety from seafood, I (the ultimate meat lover) could not bring myself to order their meat options. At the same time I didn’t want to end up eating something that to my objectiveness is really great but to my personal taste is horrible. So I ordered a compromise: BBQ Reef and Beef:

110g eye fillet of beef, herb scented prawns, scallops & calamari

110g eye fillet of beef, herb scented prawns, scallops & calamari

At first sight the portion does not look too big. But by the time I was three-quarters through it, I was full. Unfortunately I do not have the photos of the platters my friends ordered but from what they said, the seafood is fresh. The quantity is one to fill up a growing hungry male, but for us females, probably better off sharing.

The price ranges from about $20-$80 on the main meals ($80 being the platters). But I must say it is worth it. It is one of those restaurants that every seafood lover should tryout (If I, an insult to most seafood lovers, liked it, there has to be some hope).

Overall I would give a rating of 7/10 (I’m lenient….lol)

If you happen to have been there already, what did you think?

I wanna be a Child Prodigy

June 22, 2009 · 13 Comments

Does anyone of you remember how when we were kids, we were made to go music class, dance lessons or swimming practice? And eventually we gave up because we found it too hard to cope with, we’ll whine, complain and even go to the extent of pretending to fall sick so we can miss a week. Yup, I was one of those kids, my parents tried to “encourage” me to learn the piano at the age of 5, but before I could complete grade 1, I totally gave up!

So what brought me to this topic in the first place? Tommy Emmanuel! That’s right, one of the most amazing guitarists I have ever seen in my life. I never knew who he was until a fanatic friend of mine insisted in showing me all his video clips and dvds, and I was mesmerized in hope that my future husband will be able to play like that. Just this weekend, Tommy Emmanuel came to Brisbane and performed at QPAC. I was one of the fortunate ones who got to see and hear him play LIVE! He is one who doesn’t need an extensive set-up nor an expensive guitar to produce amazing music. In fact his guitar looks like it’s really old, but the melody he plays is just astounding. I am a big fan of acoustic music, it’s the kind where you can listen when you are sunbathing at the beach. My other favourites include John Mayer, Jack Johnson, and Jason Mraz whose concert I missed! But none of them can compare to the great Mr Emmanuel because he has his own style of playing. He enthusiasm and great passion for music was passed on to the audience who gave a standing ovation at the end, and was encored thrice. The atmosphere for the concert hall was classy and perfect for the evening.

Nevertheless, Tommy Emmanuel himself was a child prodigy, he started learning to play the guitar at 4 and by the age of 9 he was working as a professional musician. And after all these years, he still can’t read music, a child prodigy indeed. Here is my personal favourite of Tommy playing his song Endless Road (the song played on Aussie’s ABC channel):

Now, here is the best part! Check out the up and rising new Tommy Emmanuel – Sungha Jung. He is currently turning 13 this year, but this young talent started off when he was only 9. Here is the video of him playing Tommy’s hit Endless Road. Spot the similarities?

Now after watching these two videos, has anyone of you wished that your parents had pushed you harder and not let you quit? I do, I regret every single bit! Now we know what our parents mean when they say “they know what’s best for you.” So mimi and I were watching both the videos with envy, and we both concluded that our kids will have jam-packed activities: Monday-Classic guitar, Tuesday-Acoustic guitar, Wednesday-Drums, Thursday-Piano, Friday-Soccer. They will do this until they turn 16 when they can finally decide what exactly they want to focus on. We do have their best interest at heart. I wonder how serious Mimi was, because I was obviously joking, as much I want my kid to be child prodigy, I doubt I will go to that extent!

Since I am still young, and having a kid will take me a couple more years, I decided to turn my attention to my niece who is turning 8 months soon. I figured she probably has some musical talent in her blood since her dad is a guitarist and mum, a keyboardist. And thus I decided to introduce her to the keyboard, now look at her figuring it all out:

childprodigyYup! From the looks of it, she has a high potential of being a child prodigy as well! You never know, after all she is only 8 months, I shan’t put too much pressure on her just yet!

Isn’t music always part of our life?

Midnight Pancakes in Church

June 21, 2009 · 3 Comments

Hello mortals, yours truly here. And when I say “yours” I mean the dark passenger in David’s deep dark soul. You don’t expect good ol’ David to write this well do you? No no no, jolly ol’ David only knows how to write scientific papers and literature reviews, boring stuff you wouldn’t be interested in (Would you be interested in molecular genetics and fish immunology? If you do, please contact David). Anyways, goodie two-shoes David is tired and so Demon David is taking over once again (YES, David has a serious case of split-personality disorder).

Aaahh… this week seems to be a week of firsts for David. First he starts blogging, and then lo and behold, he gets pulled over for his first breath test today.  Yes, Despondently Driving David has never been pulled over for a breath test in the 6 whole years of his motoring career until today, and it was quite fun. This is a break down of the thoughts that went through my mind:

1. “OMG… the cops are stopping me… CRAP!!… what have I done wrong now”

  • A usual response from a Malaysian, particularly one who doesn’t obey all the traffic rules. What can I say; I don’t suffer from the affliction that is perfectionism.

2. “Okay… relax…it’s just a breath test, you haven’t drank anything alcoholic… unless someone in Pancake Manors spiked my nachos… might explain why they tasted so good…hhhmmm”

  • The real reason why I’m posting this blog actually, I was going to extol the virtues of eating at Pancake Manors. Give it up for being side-tracked.

3. To cut things short, David breathes into tube, smiles and says goodnight to the kind officer of the law as he drives off, nearly running the red light directly in front of the road block. Now THAT would have been something to really blog about.

Now to the point at hand – Pancake Manors (I am not writing this because Pancake Manors bribed me to, I wish they did though).

*Disclaimer: This is the first time I’m reviewing food/restaurants*

(Another one of life’s virginities lost, I’m on a roll this week)

Pancake Manors (Brisbane city)

Note: 24 hours!! (Something worth a few exclamation marks in Brisbane, as far as I can tell, only McDonalds opens all night long)

I choose Pancake Manors most of the time is because it’s the closest to where I live (that being the St. Lucia/Toowong region). Its serves pretty decent food and the atmosphere is pretty cool.  When I say pretty cool, I mean this place use to be a church back in the day, so we’re talking cool arches and colored glass windows here and there, not a bad place to have a pancake at midnight I say, sure beats Maccas. The menu is good enough for one that is hungry for something sweet, and they do savory pretty good as well.

So we (Me, Paul, Callie) popped into the place at around 11:30 p.m. and the place was packed with people, just enough to give you that buzz all restaurants should without being too crowded. We were seated in less than 5 minutes and proceeded to order…

Callie's Waffle (with vanilla ice cream and chocolate fudge)

Callie's Waffle (with vanilla ice cream and chocolate fudge)

Paul's Hot n' Troppo (Pancakes with banana and chocolate ice cream)

Paul's Hot n' Troppo (Pancakes with banana and chocolate ice cream)

My nachos!

My nachos!

I was pretty surprised that the nachos were considerably tasty, considering the place primarily does pancakes and crepes. They served the nachos with the usual minced beef, sour cream and shallots on top, but what I thought was cool was the fact that it had some salsa (or something like salsa…) added onto it instead of avocado (something most places serve on their nachos). I reckon the salsa added that extra level of acidity that made it taste good to me, considering that sour cream isn’t really ‘sour’ per se.

I didn’t eat Paul’s or Callie’s food (not a fan of the sweet stuff), but both of ‘em cleaned off their plates  (okay… paul left half a piece of banana) so it’s safe to say that their food was good as well. All three dishes were about $10ish, pretty okay considering the décor… Oh Yeah! If you flash your student card at the counter you get 10% off your meal. All in all it was a satisfying meal, we walked happily back to the car, feeling fatter after consuming such sinful delicacies at 12 a.m., and proceeded to be stopped for a breath test.

“Does this make my ass look big?”

June 20, 2009 · 8 Comments

This year I moved in with three other girls in a share house. I previously lived with a Singaporean girl who shared my love for fashion, clothes and drama (Asian that is). Whenever either one of us went shopping we would arrive home and do a mini catwalk to showcase our buys. It led to hilarious times.

I was reminded of this the other day when I met her in uni before one of my exams. The first thing she said when she saw me was: ‘You’re wearing those shoes?!’. The shoes she was referring to have a history. I think everyone has a memory of walking into a shop (either clothes or shoes) and seeing something you like and its like the whole shop is suddenly filled with darkness and a light beams onto the item and you could almost hear it calling you: buy me…….buy me…… (ok this may be a bit overly dramatic but you get what I mean). That was what happened as I walked through Indooroopilly Shopping Centre one lazy afternoon and idly walking into Pulp (unfortunately this was last year so they are no longer being sold) and these shoes called out to me.

Mimishoes

Now I know they are unique and they are times when I am not confident enough to base a buy on a unique item on my judgment alone. So I went home and consulted my trusted fashion sister-in-arms. She didn’t like them at all (I showed her the picture from the website). Not being one to take no for an answer, I proceeded to ask all my trusted friends their opinion. Unfortunately this was one of those times when every single one of them didn’t like it. But the shoes kept on calling out to me, so I went against everyone’s opinion and bought them anyway!

Now I don’t do that normally. I mean if one friend says its not nice, they may be wrong, but if all friends say its not nice, it really isn’t nice. Though I had bought them, I didn’t wear them often because everytime I did, I would get the comments from my friends. Until one day when I came home, Vanessa (My former housemate) had left one of her magazines (emphasis on her- its a disclaimer because I do not read let alone own magazines, not that there is anything wrong with doing that if you do) on the table. And it happened to be on a page with a photo of Rihanna at the airport before leaving Australia after her tour. I was diligent enough to find that photo online so you have a visual. And if I can be so kind as to direct your eyes to her feet you would see that the pair of shoes she is wearing are the same as mine (albeit in gold and most probably a couple of hundred dollars more expensive). Now upon noticing this, I think the best way of describing my feeling is a phrase another friend of mine uses in similar situations: IN YOUR FACE! I have never and will never let Vanessa live it down. The one pair of shoes she didn’t like end up on Rihanna (and she apparently bought them in Australia but I couldn’t find out where). So now I wear the shoes with pride and confidence knowing that even if you don’t like it, somebody famous does- take that!

But it must be mentioned that on other occassions where my friends have lovingly told me ‘Naomie that looks horrible’ I have heeded their advice. Because let’s face it, as much as we love that particular item, our eyesight is not the most reliable because like I said before, the whole shop becomes filled with darkness and the only light is shining on our beloved item. On the same day that I met Vanessa (and this whole story began) I had seen a chick dressed in a forest green top, blue skirt (not jeans and somewhere in between sky and navy), purple opaque tights and yellow flats. Two thoughts crossed my mind when I saw that; Either you are extremely self confident and ecsentric or you are colour blind. But it is a plain example of not heeding friend’s advice on clothes (or having friends who dress the same).

So heed the advice of friends…….

I would love to hear your own stories of either being the friend who lovingly said ‘Yes it does make your ass look big’ or the one who humbly receives the advice. Or even those of you who like me had the joy of saying ‘In your face!’.

The forbidden fruit

June 18, 2009 · 6 Comments

Okay… here we go… good ol me trying to write on a blog. It isn’t as easy as it looks one must say, but then again, this is my first time (Yes, I am losing my blogging virginity as we speak, be gentle yeah? I bruise easy…LOL!). So, this is a lifestyle blog. What is lifestyle anyway? When in doubt, always start with definitions while we wait for the synapses in Desperately Drafting David’s brain to fire up…

Lifestyle-Noun
the habits, attitudes, tastes, moral standards, economic level, etc., that together constitute the mode of living of an individual or group.

Sigh… you know what? I’m just going to let my brain free flow for a while, let the “Dark Passenger” in me spread its wings and take the literary steering wheel. (I love Dexter Morgan, everyone should watch the show and read the books)

Disclaimer – The Dark Passenger is writing
David is not responsible for any damages caused by the reading for this material
You have been warned. Enjoy

So… thank you Mr. Dictionary.com, you have saved my literary hide again. The habit, attitudes, tastes… blablabla. Honestly, I rarely read about another human’s lifestyle, safe to say I am not a big fan of humans in general (except you Miss SexOnHardWood, you’re okay most of the time), and I rather not indulge the narcissist within, so let me talk/rant about YOUR lifestyle.

So something that would probably affect most of your lifestyle in this day and age would be apples. No, not the ones you take every day to keep doctors away, I’m talking about the ones you carry all day to keep boredom away. Look, I’m trying to resist the urge of throwing some facts/statistics at you (I’m just lazy to look it up honestly), but nearly everyone has got something from the Apple tree. Yes, forbidden fruit is tempting, and we all eventually succumb to the temptation of plucking an iPod, an iPhone, or worse, a Mac. Face it folks, Apple products are on many occasions form over function and way more expensive. Confess your sins people!! You bought that iPod just because it’s an iPod, not because it has more memory or has better sound quality than other MP3 players. You bought it because it looked cool. You bought the iPhone because it was cool, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! It can’t even copy and paste and send business cards, dare I mention the lack of Bluetooth? Oh yes, vanity is a sin we all indulge in. I don’t blame you, I have an iPod and an iPhone as well, sigh… I am so going to hell in an Apple hand basket.

Time for repentance and seeking forgiveness for my sins? Hell No!! If I’m going to hell, I’m going with “Highway to Hell – AC/DC” playing on my iPod, one hand taking photos with my iPhone, and last but not least, a MacBook Pro playing an episode of Supernatural. Heck, Hitler might even hang out with me if I let him play the latest Sims 3 on the Mac… oh I can see it now… Hitler-Sim executing the neighborhood Jews.  So yes, dearest readers, before this one actually buys a Mac and takes the trip downstairs, Definitely Doomed David is going to spend some time sharing with one and all, about why he is buying a Mac. Perhaps someone out there will be kind enough to persuade him otherwise and stick to a PC…

There’s always a first

June 17, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Here, we are… having our first ever official business meeting. Setting up this business has always been a dream, however it is more than meets the eye. The behind the scenes work is tedious, every single detail has to be looked into. As fun as it sounds, much work is needed to be done – setting up the website, liaising with people, dealing with the law issues, managing accounts and the lists can just go on.

Nevertheless, we are still excited with our upcoming online store and this lifestyle blog. Our passion ranges from

  • Fashion – window shopping, fashion blogs, latest trends, and making our own trends
  • Food – cafes, trying out new recipes, restaurants
  • Techno – latest phones, computer accessories, basically any excuse not to use our hands, but instead have a machine to do it for us
  • Entertainment – music, movies,  favourite actors & actresses, asian dramas

It’s 2.50am and we’re clocking out, looks like it’s going to be one big adventure, but there’s always a first!

And we’ll take it

one step at a time

There’s no need to rush

It’s like learning to fly

Or falling in love

It’s gonna happen

And it’s supposed to happen

That we find the reasons why

One step at a time
